Terms and Conditions
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern the services provided by Hicks MOT & Service Centre, located at 15 Headley Road, Woodley, Reading RG5 4JB. By using our services, you agree to these Terms in full.
2. Service Agreement
a. Hicks MOT & Service Centre will provide automotive MOT testing, repair, maintenance and related services professionally and promptly.
b. Customers must provide accurate information about their vehicle (registration, mileage, service history) and any known issues.
c. We reserve the right to refuse or postpone service if the vehicle is unsafe to work on or if the scope of work exceeds reasonable expectations (for example, hidden damage or extensive repairs).
d. Any additional work beyond the initially agreed scope will be authorised by the customer before proceeding.
3. Pricing and Payments
a. Estimates are provided in advance when possible. The estimate may change if further issues are discovered.
b. A deposit may be required for certain work (e.g., special parts, service plan).
c. Full payment is due on completion of the work unless a different arrangement has been agreed in writing.
d. Accepted payments include: cash, debit/credit card, or bank transfer. Cheques are not accepted.
e. Late payment may incur additional charges, interest, or legal fees if necessary.
4. Parts and Materials
a. We use high-quality parts unless otherwise requested by the customer.
b. If special parts are required and must be ordered, a non-refundable deposit may be required.
c. Removed parts will be disposed of unless the customer requests in advance that they be retained.
5. Warranty
a. Labour and parts carry a warranty as explained before the work begins.
b. The warranty is void if the vehicle is misused, is involved in an accident, is repaired elsewhere without our written consent, or is not properly maintained following our advice.
c. Wear and tear, routine maintenance items or faults unrelated to the repair provided are not covered by the warranty.
6. Vehicle Storage and Collection
a. Vehicles should be collected within 48 hours of work completion unless a different arrangement is agreed.
b. If the vehicle remains uncollected beyond this period, storage fees may apply.
c. We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal items left in the vehicle. Please remove all valuables before handing over the vehicle.
7. Liability
a. We will carry out work with reasonable care and skill, but we cannot accept liability for unforeseen damage, loss or injury beyond our control.
b. We are not responsible for pre-existing faults, consequential damage or unrelated issues that arise after the completion of our work.
c. Our liability is strictly limited to the cost of the work we performed, and we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss.
8. Customer Responsibilities
a. Customers must provide accurate vehicle details, an honest description of faults, and cooperate in booking drop-off/collection times.
b. Any additional work identified must be authorised by the customer before being carried out.
c. Customers must arrange for the vehicle to be dropped off and collected as per agreed-upon times.
d. Any complaints about the work must be reported within 7 days of completion of the service, so we may investigate promptly.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
10. Changes to Terms
Hicks MOT & Service Centre may update these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will take effect immediately upon publication on our website or when notified to customers.
